Tribute to Afrojack

11 Jun

Start with this VERY peculiar video, then hit the jump for Afrojack greats. I suggest waiting for Big Boi to jump on the track for a hot second at about 2:00.

Love Afrojack? Check his 13th release after the jump!

Louder than Words

23 May

Last night at the bar during my usual chat with the DJ he offered to play me a new collab of Guetta and Afrojack.

Serious crowd pleaser… typical Guetta beats with Afrojack’s more mainstream style. The beat drop at around 4:30 is epic.

Good God.

Why I didn’t know about this the second it came out last week is a huge mystery to me.

Obviously nothing could make me happier than a collaboration of two of my favorite DJ’s of all time, and two of the first DJ’s to really get me into music all together.

Mostly for my own personal benefit, I’ve ripped off this youtube someone took of it live at Ultra, since I clearly wasn’t smart enough to at the time. :enter nostalgia:

And for high quality happiness… stay tuned! Slow internet means slow uploads.

Til then, it’s available for download on Beatport

Even better? This Dave Wrangler fellow mashed their beat with Biggie. Watch out, summer club scene… this may be everywhere and then some.

The only thing that could be better would be a collab of Tiesto, Diplo and the mau5. Then, I could die happy.

The Motherfudgin’ Jam: Drankenstein

27 Apr

Welcome to more free mixtapes that you wanna know and love. I’d like to extend a thanks to Mr. Bird Peterson for taking my two favorite things in the whole world (trance beats, Southern hip hop) and creating 15 heavenly tracks to celebrate my last full week of classes. I love this guy.

Bird P on Drankenstein: “It’s based on an idea I started working with when i created the Dope Boys remix for Diplo’s recent Guccimane mix. This is my amalgamation of two trends i’ve always loved: the dirty south and the use of trance synths in current rap. Here I have taken 15 or so of my favorite southern rap songs and 15 or so of my favorite trance synth lines to create something thats not corny or funny, it’s simply the motherfudgin’ jam!”*

WMC 2010- Ultra Fantastic, Day 2

13 Apr

The six of us finally rolled out of bed for day 2 of Ultra around 11 am. The day was supposed to start at 12, but we knew we wouldn’t make it, and ended up hopping on the metro just before 3 to get there in time for our top choice shows.

We hadn’t hit inside the Heineken domes yet and knew they’d be worth checking out, so we headed over there first.
