Nocando

Nocando

SoCal Murs has always been a personal favorite hip hop artist of mine; at one point his Break Up (The OJ Song) was top 25 most played on my iTunes. That’s why when I see him as a featured on a track, I always jump at the chance to listen.

Found this new Nocando jam on goodmusicallday, now on repeat for the day in the library… thanks!

I’m Not Scared Either, Em

30 Apr

As you might have found out from The Bomb Track recently, everyone’s favorite white rapper Eminem has a new album coming up, Recovery.

As much as I’m not into Em, I do respect the guy… he’s got a way with the words that’s totally unexpected and he’s loved by the best rappers out there. Checked out his first single and I’m pretty into it… looks like Em is back! The only think I’M afraid of is my roommate playing 8 Mile to fall asleep every night again…

Sorry for the youtube… someone’s getting lazy uploading mp3’s

PS- does anyone think Recovery is a little bit reminiscient of Lil Wayne’s Rebirth? Just sayin…

The Motherfudgin’ Jam: Drankenstein

27 Apr

Welcome to more free mixtapes that you wanna know and love. I’d like to extend a thanks to Mr. Bird Peterson for taking my two favorite things in the whole world (trance beats, Southern hip hop) and creating 15 heavenly tracks to celebrate my last full week of classes. I love this guy.

Bird P on Drankenstein: “It’s based on an idea I started working with when i created the Dope Boys remix for Diplo’s recent Guccimane mix. This is my amalgamation of two trends i’ve always loved: the dirty south and the use of trance synths in current rap. Here I have taken 15 or so of my favorite southern rap songs and 15 or so of my favorite trance synth lines to create something thats not corny or funny, it’s simply the motherfudgin’ jam!”*

“Stamp of Approval” gets my stamp of approval

21 Apr

One time I had a Spring Break Incident that resulted in some great new tunes.

Lucky for me, the SBI struck again today, when I was cruising through a site he sent my way… “The Stamp of Approval”

1st Klass

I clicked this link off someone’s myspace page, a person who was self promoting hard, and am usually totally unimpressed by people who push their own shit (everyone’s AWESOME, yeah?)

There is a first time for everything.

1st Klass defies the odds of being able to sample both Rihanna’s “Hard” and Snoop’s “I Wanna Rock” while not offending the original songs’ qualities. Their flow is by no means lame, and the songs they sample are chart-toppers, giving them an automatic edge. My only complaint? Some songs over-sample… “I Wanna Rock” is a good example of this, and “All the Way Turnt Up.” Otherwise- this is one mixtape worth checking out. It’s got the all the elements of a CD I’d listen to all the way through.

Favorite track? “Angels.” Sorry I can’t drop a preview… but click below and you’re there… I promise you won’t hate it.

Bye-Bye Sasha Fierce…

22 Jan

… hello baby HOVA?

Well, not really, but maybe in the future. Having done away with her creative alter-ego, Sasha Fierce, B’s warming up to the idea of a baby Jay-Z to complete their $122 million lifestyle. If they do decide to procreate, the kid would not only be fly as ever, but be lucky enough to have some seriously low key celeb ‘rents.

Jay Z and B

B says she wants to take time of from the studio to relax, and Jay-Z seems to just work on a whim as it is. It’s just too bad Jay isn’t as lyrical as Weezy, right?
